Like a lot of you last night, we watched "Dancing with the Stars" to hear from Sara Evans-not that we expected her to really say anything-we just wanted to see her...watch her body language. And what did I see? An exhausted woman. A woman who feels betrayed. A woman who wants only to shelter her kids from from the ills that life has placed before them. In other words, I saw the same things from one of the most famous women in America that I've seen-and you've seen-hundreds of times before from folks like you and me. Chances are, you might be going through this type of thing or some other life's hardship right now.
I've thought a lot about what I would say to Sara if she was here-with us-right now. What would I say if it were you? I've always loved the New Testament parables. For me, stories from which lessons can be learned are most effective. With that in mind, (and not putting this on the level of divine wisdom, mind you) here's something I came across this morning:
A man's favorite donkey falls into a deep precipice;
He can't pull it out no matter how hard he tries;
He therefore decides to bury it alive.
Soil is poured onto the donkey from above.
The donkey feels the load, shakes it off, and steps on it;
More soil is poured.
It shakes it off and steps up;
The more the load was poured, the higher it rose;
By noon, the donkey was grazing in green pastures.
No one says it will be easy to do, but after much shaking off of your problems, and stepping up or learning from them, you will graze in GREEN PASTURES. It just takes some time, determination, and hopefully-prayer. Good luck, Sara Evans; and perhaps, good luck to YOU. And that's something to hang your hat on.
